Principal’s Report
I have been fortunate in recent weeks to be involved in a number of events that celebrate both learning and achievement within both the school and the wider community. My multiple roles have been those of leader, learner and appreciative audience member. As the site leader I have been preparing for our ‘On track Evaluation’ which measures our progress towards raising student achievement, sustaining high levels of performance and building public confidence in our school. I wish to express my thanks to the caregivers and governing council members who have volunteered to meet the review team to discuss our journey. I would also like to thank those students who have volunteered to talk about their learning and the opportunities and support offered by the school to prepare them for their futures.
I truly enjoyed my time in classroom as a learner during our Week of Inspirational Math in week 6. Seeing so many young learners actively engaged in so many diverse activities was truly inspiring. The collaboration between students and the willingness of so many to ‘give it a go’ and not fear mistakes made for a rich rewarding experience that we will endeavour to build upon. I would also like to thank the staff involved who willingly took up the challenge to not only try something new but also to challenge their own thinking about the teaching of Math. In recent weeks those teachers responsible for the delivery of Math in year R-8 have also undertaken the role of learner as they seek to adapt to our new numeracy resources. I am pleased to report that all of our teachers now have access to a range of Numicon resources to support the delivery of numeracy and we are confident that this multi-sensory approach coupled with its proven robust and reliable assessment will make a significant impact in this key area of learning. If you would like further information about Numicon you can either speak to your child’s teacher or follow the link below.
Finally, I would like to congratulate all of our students who contributed so significantly to the recent Port Augusta Choir Concert. The musicianship and stagecraft demonstrated by all the students was of a very high standard. On behalf of both the school and the students I would like to express thanks to Vennessa James and Sharon Taylor whose dedication, patience and organisation made this event so memorable.

We would love your help – Become a Volunteer
Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the engagement, achievement and wellbeing of all children and students.
DECD volunteers can participate in a wide range of programs and services including coaching sporting teams, helping children learn to read, attending working bees, mentoring students and through membership on governing councils, management groups and parent groups.
If you feel you have different skills, expertise and knowledge to offer, please get in contact with the school. It’s never too late to start. No matter who you are or where you’re from, it’s all about wanting to help out. It’s in this spirit that the department actively encourages Aboriginal people and people from multicultural and diverse backgrounds to get involved also.
Kindy Hill
On Thursday afternoons a group of student’s have been working with the Kindergarten in establishing a working relationship between the two educational campuses. The students spent their first visit designing an outdoor play space. The aim of the new area is to offer ample space to minimize conflict between children and foster cooperation. We look forward to sharing our progress with you.

Do You Have Spare Bottle Tops?
2 art students are seeking bottle tops of any shape, size or colour for an Art project this semester. Also if you have any hard coloured plastic (acrylic) that you no longer need, the student’s would love to take it off your hands and implement in their project. Thank you in advance.
